OneNote for Windows 10 is discontinued!

For years, OneNote for Windows 10 has helped millions of people around the world capture ideas, stay organized and collaborate easily. As of October 14, 2025, OneNote for Windows 10 will be read-only: You’ll still be able to view your notes, but you won’t be able to edit or sync them with this version. Updates, bug fixes and security patches will no longer be provided for OneNote for Windows 10.

What you have to do as a user:

If you’re currently using OneNote for Windows 10 for teaching, collaboration or day-to-day organization, we recommend switching to the OneNote app for Windows now to stay productive and take advantage of all the new features.

This allows you to switch smoothly to the latest OneNote version:

1. sync your notes first: Make sure all your notebooks are up to date by right-clicking on each notebook in OneNote for Windows 10 and selecting Sync this notebook.
